About Us

Our Mission:

Kings Harvest MissionKing's Harvest pet rescue is a no-kill, non-profit, charitable 501c3 organization serving the Quad Cities and surrounding communities. Our goal is to serve our community by taking in homeless and surrendered pets and finding them loving, forever homes through our comprehensive adoption process. We strive to address the issue of overpopulation by providing a spay and neuter program for low income families. We also offer assistance with our pet food pantry and temporary pet placement for the homeless that reside in our shelter. The public, our staff members and our volunteers are all viewed as partners in improving animal welfare in our community.

Shelter Services:

Our pet assistance programs help those in need with free pet food, low cost spaying/neutering, education, re-homing surrendered pets and at times providing temporary homing so that the owner can be reunited with their pets. To receive pet assistance under King's Harvest's programs the owner must:

  • Be below the poverty level as established by the US Dept. of Health and Human Services
  • Provide some form of identification(state, federal or county) ID card
  • Show proof of ownership of the pet (vet bill, rabies certificate, license or proof you have cared for the pet more than seven consecutive days)
  • Provide a rental/lease agreement or property taxes with your name to indicate you have a home for your pet(s).
  • Proof of income for every household member.

Spay and Neuter Program

Doesn't everyone get their cat or dog spayed or neutered?

NO! There are millions of healthy cats/kittens and dogs/puppies put to death each year in U.S. animal shelters because of unaltered cats and dogs and not enough homes for their offspring. People often put off spaying/neutering their pet due to cost, transportation, or time.

spay and Neuter

Reasons to Spay and Neuter:

  • Your pet will live longer and have a healthier life
  • It will improve your pet's behavior
  • It is cost effective
  • Neutering helps decrease unwanted spraying
  • By spaying and neutering just one male and one female cat, more than 2,000 unwanted kitten births can be prevented in just four years and more than 2 million in 8 years!

We have 2 low cost spay/neuter clinics in our area and King's Harvest may assist you, if you are low income.

Please call 563-570-4536 for further information.

Temporary and Permanent Placement

temporary and permanent pet placementSometimes, people are left with making a choice between staying on the street with their pet or going to a shelter and leaving their pet unattended. When a person needed to enter a homeless shelter due to inclement weather, King's Harvest created a program to assist with this unique need. A temporary placement program was established where the pet is either placed in a boarding facility or a temporary home until the owner is able to resume the responsibility of the pet. When that time comes, their pet is then returned to them. All pets placed in the temporary placement program must be spayed or neutered, or the owner must agree to have that procedure done. There are currently no shelters in the Quad City area that allow people to bring their pets with them into the shelter. This program gives the owner the ability to reunite with their pet when the time is right while letting them know it is cared for until that time.

Should a person or family find that they are no longer able to care for their pet, King's Harvest will assist them in finding an appropriate forever home for the pet. Pets are only placed after it has been evaluated, including a visit to the vet with proper vaccinations administered. All pets placed for permanent adoption will be spayed or neutered as well.

King's Harvest would like to thank Melissa and her staff at Terri's Dog Styling for their assistance with boarding and needed grooming of animals. Next time your pet needs a day at the spa, remember Melissa and give her a call!
